Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Sun Tan

Here are some of most popular and effective home remedies and methods to remove that horrid sun tan.

We tend to use fairness cream which contain bleach that are harmful to the skin in the long run and should be avoided.

  • A mixture of lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice should be applied on the face as a face pack. Lemon juice is citric acid that helps remove the tan and the cucumber and rose water are cooling agents.
  • Mixing together some honey and lemon juice and applying it on the affected area can be one of the best anti tan pack mixtures.
  • Preparing a paste of some raw milk, turmeric and some lemon juice. This mixture should then be applied on the skin and be allowed to remain till it dries up. Thereafter, it should be washed with some cool water.
  • Prepare a mixture of oats and buttermilk. This mixture should be rubbed onto the tanned area as the oats will help in exfoliating the skin and on the other hand the butter milk is known to be extremely soothing for the skin.
  • Mixing together some gram flour, lime juice and some curd on the affected area on a regular basis gives best results against tanning.
  • Applying some fresh lemon juice and allowing it to remain for at least 15 minutes on the elbows, knees or patchy areas helps remove the tan and making it fair.
  • A regular use of fresh coconut water on the hands and face is known to be very effective in getting rid of a tan as well as making the skin supple and soft.
  • Aloe Vera gel is an excellent remedy for taking care of dark tans. It will lighten the skin in as little as a week, if applied everyday to the affected area. However, aloe has the property of making your skin photosynthetic and can darken it if you go out in the sun without sunscreen lotion. This makes it important to remember to use sunscreen every time you go out.
  • A cream with equal parts of milk powder, lemon juice, honey and almond oil can be applied and left on for 20 minutes. This will help lighten your tan. You can store this for about a week and use it thrice daily for best results.

Easy Guide To File Your Income Tax Online

ET provides a step-by-step guide to help you file tax returns electronically before the July 31 deadline using the official website of the I-T dept or private sites.

July 31, the last day to file income tax returns, is almost here. Sure, you can file returns even after that, but it comes with complications. So, don't count on it.

If you earn above Rs 5 lakh, you have to file returns electronically this year. That means you can file your returns even in the last two days from your home computer. You can seek the help of a professional or do it yourself by using the official website of the Income-Tax department or a host of private websites.

Before we proceed to how to use these portals effectively , let us address a major source of ambiguity this year regarding the applicability of forms ITR-1 and ITR-2 to salaried individuals or pensioners with one house property and interest income. Tax consultants are divided on the interpretation of new provision on exempt income , introduced this year.

According to this provision, those with exempt income exceeding Rs 5,000 cannot file their return using ITR-1 (Sahaj). While some feel that all salaried individuals who have tax-exempt income like House Rent Allowance (HRA), Leave Travel Allowance (LTA) and transport allowance have to use ITR-2 this year, others argue that they can continue to use the much simpler ITR-1 (Sahaj).

"My view is that the exempt income here refers to sources like dividends and not tax-free salary components like HRA and conveyance allowance," explains Divya Baweja, senior director at Deloitte in India. The Income-Tax department is yet to issue a clarification on the matter.

Using the official website

Before you start the process, keep your bank statements, Form 16 issued by your employer and a copy of last year's return at hand. Next, log on to www.incometaxindiaefiling .gov.in. Follow these steps:

Step1: Register yourself on the website. Your Permanent Account Number (PAN) will be your user ID.

Step2:View your tax credit statement — Form 26AS — for the financial year 2012-13 . The statement will reflect the taxes deducted by your employer actually deposited with the I-T department. The TDS as per your Form 16 must tally with the figures in Form 26AS. If you file the return despite discrepancies, if any, you could get a notice from the I-T department later.

Step 3: Under the 'Download' menu, click on Income Tax Return Forms and choose AY 2013-14 (for financial year 2012-13 ). Download the Income Tax Return (ITR) form applicable to you. If your exempt income exceeds Rs 5,000, the appropriate form will be ITR-2 . If the applicable form is ITR-1 or ITR 4S, you can complete the process on the portal itself, by using the 'Quick e-file ITR' link.

Cyclospora Parasite which lead to more than 275 people illness

Cyclospora cayetanensis is a protozoan that causes disease in humans, and perhaps primates. It has been linked in the United States from fecally-contaminated imported raspberries and was virtually unknown before about 1990, but has been on the rise since. The health risk associated with the disease is usually confined to adult foreigners visiting endemic regions and acquiring the infection: this is why C. cayetanensis has been labeled as causing "traveler's diarrhea."

A foodborne stomach bug of mysterious origin is now responsible for more than 275 cases of intestinal illness, the centers of disease control and prevention said wednesday.
The infections, called cyclosporiasis, have hit residents in at least seven states: Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, Wisconsin, Georgia, Connecticut and New Jersey.

Illinois and Kansas have also reported once case each, but those victims may have developed the intestinal illness out of state. At least ten people have been hospitalized in three states.

More than 125 of the cases are in Iowa. The Iowa Department of Public Health said in a statement Wednesday that its investigation indicates fresh vegetables, not fruit, may be the source of the illness.

Cyclosporiasis is caused by the parasite, cyclospora, found in contaminated food or drinking water.
Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University, told CBS This Morning Thursday that cyclospora is a "tenacious critter because it can produce a prolonged, watery, very uncomfortable diarrhea" in addition to other symptoms.

That's because the parasite attacks the small intestines, causing the diarrhea (which can last up to two months), loss of appetite, weight loss, cramping, bloating, gas, nausea and fatigue. Vomiting and low-grade fever could occur less commonly, according to CDC.

It takes about one week for people who are infected to get sick. Schaffner says people who think they've been infected with the parasite can go to a doctor where they can get tested and treated.

Antibiotics, rest and plenty of fluids can treat the illness.
Most of the illnesses in the current outbreak occurred from mid-June through early July. The CDC pointed out its investigation found that those who have been affected were not at a social gathering or event together.
The food and drug administartion says people should practice safe food handling and preparation recommendations, including washing hands, utensils and surfaces with hot, soapy water before and after handling foods.

Abdominal Exercises For Flat Stomach

Abdominal exercises are useful for building the abdominal muscles. This is useful for improving performance with certain sports, back pain, and for withstanding abdominal impacts (e.g., taking punches). According to a 2011 study, abdominal muscle exercises are known to increase the strength and endurance of the abdominal muscles.

This are the exercises you can follow:
It has been highly disputed whether or not abdominal exercises have any reducing effect on abdominal fat. The 2011 study found that abdominal exercise does not reduce abdominal fat; to achieve that, a deficit in energy expenditure and caloric intake must be created—abdominal exercises alone are not enough to reduce abdominal fat and the girth of the abdomen. Early results from a 2006 study found that walking exercise (not abdominal exercise specifically) reduced the size of subcutaneous abdominal fat cells; cell size predicts type 2 diabetes according to a lead author. Moderate exercise reduced cell size by about 18% in 45 obese women over a 20-week period; diet alone did not appear to affect cell size.

Google Celebrates DNA Scientist Rosalind Elsie Franklin 93rd Birthday

Rosalind Elsie Franklin (25 July 1920 – 16 April 1958) was a British biophysicist and X-ray crystallographer who made critical contributions to the understanding of the fine molecular structures of DNA, RNA, viruses, coal, and graphite. Her DNA work achieved the most fame because DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) plays an essential role in cell metabolism and genetics, and the discovery of its structure helped her co-workers understand how genetic information is passed from parents to children.

Franklin is best known for her work on the X-ray diffraction images of DNA which led to the discovery of the DNA double helix. Her data, according to Francis Crick, were "the data we actually used" to formulate Crick and Watson's 1953 hypothesis regarding the structure of DNA.Franklin's images of X-ray diffraction confirming the helical structure of DNA were shown to Watson without her approval or knowledge. Though this image and her accurate interpretation of the data provided valuable insight into the DNA structure, Franklin's scientific contributions to the discovery of the double helix are often overlooked.
Unpublished drafts of her papers (written just as she was arranging to leave King's College London) show that she had independently determined the overall B-form of the DNA helix and the location of the phosphate groups on the outside of the structure. Moreover, it was a report of Franklin's that convinced Crick and Watson that the backbones had to be on the outside, which was crucial since before this both they and Linus Pauling had independently generated non-illuminating models with the chains inside and the bases pointing outwards.
However, her work was published third, in the series of three DNA Nature articles, led by the paper of Watson and Crick which only hinted at her contribution to their hypothesis.
After finishing her portion of the work on DNA, Franklin led pioneering work on the tobacco mosaic virus and the polio virus. She died in 1958 at the age of 37 of ovarian cancer.

Google Reveals Chromecast Which Lets You Stream Internet Video to Your TV for Just $35

Google's new nexus 7 has the specifications to impress, but a new little and cheaper device called the Chromecast is impressing a bit more today.

The small dongle costs approximately $35 and promises to let you easily stream Internet video on a television. Plug the device into the back of a TV's HDMI port, connect it to your home WiFi network and you can then fire up videos or music on your phone, tablet and computer and watch it on the bigger screen.

"The Chromecast is easiest way to bring your favorite online entertainment to your TV," Google Head of TV Technology Mario Queiroz said at the launch event this morning.

Google will build in the Chromecast support to the phone and tablet apps, themselves. For instance, the Android or iPhone YouTube and Google Video apps will have a Chromecast button that lets you play that video or song on the TV screen. In Chrome browsers on Mac, Windows and Chrome OS computers, the button will allow you to mirror what is on your computer's Chrome browser on the bigger screen.

It's intended to be a really simple way to watch the content you are watching on your mobile devices on a bigger TV screen. The technology allows you to do other things on your phone or tablet, for instance reading an email, while still streaming the video on the TV.

All the Details on Google's New Nexus 7 Tablet

But it is simplicity and price together that are getting people excited about the Chromecast. The little device costs only $35 and comes with three free months of Netflix service for both new and existing customers.

Netflix support for Chromecast is coming, Google said at the event today.

Competing devices that bring Internet connectivity and video to the TV, like the $99 Apple TV and the $50 Roku, are more expensive, though, in many cases, have more functionality.

"Perhaps the best news about the Chromecast was its price. At $35, it is almost a third of what Apple TV sells for and even significantly less than even Roku," Ross Rubin, principal analyst for Reticle Research, told ABC News. " It's not the solution to everything and it does require initiation from a smartphone or other device. And they don't have all the services, but have some key ones in Netflix, YouTube and Pandora."

This isn't Google's first foray into the TV space, and its previous attempts have been largely unsuccessful. Its Google TV software, which was built into TV sets from Sony and Samsung, was sluggish and companies moved away from using the platform. Google also announced its Nexus Q set-top box last May and, after negative reviews, it was never released to the public.

Still, experts seem to think that, at $35, this might be the device many can get behind, especially given its simple purpose of just making it easier to get the video content you are watching on your other devices on that bigger screen.

Some analysts pointed out that set-up could be a bit complex for people to configure, but they pointed to the price and basic functionality as being a differentiator.

"It's not a complete solution, but it's trying to tackle a single problem -- expediently getting online video to your TV -- and at a price that beats about everything out there," Rubin said.

The Chromecast is available now from the Google Play Store, BestBuy.com and Amazon.com for $35. It will ship on Aug. 7.

Rembrandt Van Rijn 407 Birthday

Google is celebrating the 407th birthday of artist Rembrandt van Rijn with a homepage doodle that pays homage to an oil on canvas painting from 1659.
Google.com today features a darkened background with Rembrandt's self portrait - known as "Self-Portrait with Beret and Turned-Up Collar" - in front of the logo.

According to the National Gallery of Art, which has housed the self portrait since 1937, Rembrandt painted this self portrait after he'd been forced to sell many of his possessions to pay off debts.
"Early descriptions of the painting therefore mentioned an aura of melancholy surrounding the artist, yet the removal of dark, discolored varnish in 1992 proved that interpreting paintings on the basis of an artist's chronological life story is dangerous: the cleaned portrait revealed a rich range of pinks and bright flesh tones, forcing a reassessment of Rembrandt's 'mood,'" according to the gallery. "Instead of sadness, the deep–set eyes that bore into those of the viewer seem to express inner strength and dignity."
Rembrandt
Rembrandt's self portrait was reportedly inspired by a Raphael portrait he saw at a 1639 auction in Amsterdam.
The artist was born in 1606 and relocated to Amsterdam in 1631, where he set up a studio in the office of art dealer Hendrick van Uylenburgh, according to a biography from the Getty Museum. He became well-known for his portraits. "The core of Rembrandt's oeuvre, however, consists of biblical and—to a much lesser extent—historical, mythological, and allegorical "history pieces," all of which he painted, etched, or sketched in pen and ink or chalk," according to Encyclopedia Britannica.
Later in life, Rembrandt ran into financial troubles, but he was still a sought-after artist. He died in 1669.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag Movie Review

Story: A film inspired by the legendary Indian athlete, Milkha Singh's life and journey.

Review: He doesn't sing for his supper. He runs. Every sinew tugging and rippling to be fed. For that one glass of milk(ha!). He had a choice to run away, or to run. He did the right thing, he ran. Oh yes, the eternal metaphor 'the race of life'. We're all runners. With reason enough? A finish line to shred? Milkha Singh did. He ran his first race for ek glass doodh. And he never stopped. Untiringly. He ran because it was his religion.

'BMB' traces his scarred childhood, brutalized by India's Partition; followed by penury and petty crimes. He finds purpose in life when romance blooms with Beero (Sonam). Joining the Indian Army, where his mentor (Malhotra) inspires him to take the big 'leap'. Thereon, Milkha just runs. Barefooted, bruised, and with the weight of a suffering soul. He goes on to break records, but faces heartbreaking defeat at the Rome Olympics(1960). He takes it in his stride, overcomes his catastrophic past and ultimately emerges a winner.

Mehra is brilliant at his craft; he infuses realism into drama, and explores characters so deeply and sensitively through tragedy and triumph, that it sparks an emotional deluge. The movie transitions from flashback sepia tones to moods of present, without losing the grip of emotions, ever.

Cinematography is ace (Binod Pradhan); the music (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) heightens the drama. Prasoon's writing is powerful, lyrics are pure poetry and emotions robustly sweep the scenes with few dialogues. While there's a lot to marvel at, a hint of the director's over-indulgence in the art, results in a long 'runtime' and prolonged scenes that distract.

Farhan is fantastic! He peeps through Milkha's core to essay this role. With an awe-inspiring body, grit and guts, he puts blood and sweat into Milkha. He races like an athlete, breaks into bhangra like a proud sardar and shows prowess of a Punjab-da-sher. In a brief role, Sonam prettily breezes through. Pavan and Divya (Singh's sister) are outstanding. Overall, 'BMB' pulsates with the storyteller's sheer passion all the way to the finish line.

Capsicum Benefits

Capsicum is very healthy and we gain lot of benefits have it in our daily meal or as snacks or as salad etc. Here are few benefits of capsicum for to follow:

Solids To Give In First One Year To Kids

Solid items are introduced gradually after four months. Fruits, vegetables, rice, cereals and juices are introduced slowly one by one.Fruits are mashed and given. They are  good weaning food as they are easy to digest. Then vegetables are introduced after boiling and mashing them. Read on to know the weaning foods.

Introduction of fruits, vegetables, rice, cereals and juices

As the items below are added, do not stop or reduce the ones already started.  The object is to foster more tastes and increase the quantity of food to the amount accepted.

Fruits

Mashed fruits are a good first weaning food.  They are easy to digest and palatable to the baby.

Mashed bananas: Bananas should be mashed, and then given plain or mixed with malai (cream) or milk. Start with quarter banana, and increase it every week until the baby accepts it.
Boiled and mashed apples: You can also offer apples instead of bananas to your baby.  Take an apple and cut it into pieces, taking care to remove the center core.  Boil it and then mash it either with a spoon or in a mixer.  Start with half an apple and increase it to the limit accepted by the child.  It has been observed that apples causes constipation in many babies.  In this case, try other fruits like papaya.
Other seasonal fruits: Other seasonal fruits like pears (to be prepared like apples), chikoo (simply mashed), papaya (simply mashed), mango (simply mashed) can also be given.  It has been observed that papaya helps soften stools if the baby is constipated.

Mashed and well-cooked vegetables:

Vegetables can be added to the baby's diet a week or so after introducing fruits. Vegetables should first be boiled, then mashed in a blender, and then strained.  (It is important to strain the vegetables until the baby is about 7 months old.  After the baby is 7 months, straining is not required because vegetable fiber is very nutritious and contains certain useful toxins).  Begin with a couple of spoons and then gradually increase the quantity every succeeding week to the limit accepted by the baby.   Dark green leafy vegetables, carrots and pumpkin are very healthy.

There is no need to add salt to the vegetables, since there is enough sodium in the vegetables. The baby's system is not ready to handle too much salt in the first few months of life.  Ghee, butter or cooking oil can also be added for flavor as well as for calories.  Vegetables like spinach are high in iron.  In order to improve the absorption of iron into the baby's system, you need to give vitamin C.  Vegetables like tomato and cauliflower contain vitamin C and therefore can be a good complement to spinach.  Multivitamin drops also contain vitamin C and can be given once a day, right after a meal.

Porridge

This can be added to the baby's diet a week after starting mashed vegetables.  One to two teaspoons should be given twice a day, between two feeds around 8 am and 7 pm.  Keep increasing every 3-4 days to the amount accepted by the baby.  Home-made preparations are preferred to ready-made cereals.  There are several ways of offering home-made porridge: suji kheer (rava kheer), thin seera with ghee, dalia from broken wheat, ragi (or nachni), soaked bread in milk, mashed boiled rice with milk, phirni, etc.

Mashed and well-cooked khichri or dal and rice

Introduce khichri to the baby's diet after a couple of weeks.  You can add half a teaspoon of ghee, butter or cooking oil to the final preparation.  Initially, you should put the cooked khichri in a blender so that it is easy for the baby to swallow.  Then you can gradually increase the consistency to a semi-solid state so that the child's palate starts getting used to regular foods.  You can also add vegetables like carrots or spinach to the khichri.

Curds/yogurt

When the child is about 6 months old, curds can be introduced in the child's diet.  Start with about 2 teaspoons and then gradually increase. Avoid adding sugar or other sweeteners to the curds.

Soft boiled egg

Egg can be added to the baby's diet when the child is about 6-7 months.  The egg should be boiled in water for three minutes, and then cooled in running water.  First begin with one teaspoon of the yolk (yellow portion), and then gradually introduce the white portion of the egg.  The white is very high in proteins, but can also cause allergic reactions in some babies.

Juices

Juices made of fruits high in vitamin C, like orange and pineapple, can be added at around 7 months.  The reason for not adding them earlier is that they often do not suit very young babies.

Milk

After the eighth month, as the baby takes less of your milk, she needs to start getting external milk.  Either cow's milk or buffalo's milk can be given.  Do not dilute the milk with water.  If the milk contains too much fat, remove the cream.  External milk does not suit many babies initially.  They either get diarrhoea or start vomiting. They may also develop allergies like eczema (if there is a strong family history of allergies).  Breastfeeding should be continued at least until 1 year.

Chapati

Gradually introduce chapati in the child's diet.  One can do so either by adding one chapati in the blender with the child's vegetables, or by soaking it in dal.

Fish, minced meat

In the case of non-vegetarians, these foods can also be introduced, in the soup form initially.  It can later be steamed, minced and offered to the child.
